First Saturday of Every Month

3pm-9pm

$200

Join us for a memorable day of ceramic alchemy as ArtAttelier dives into the exciting world of Raku firing! Raku is a fast, fiery, and unpredictable ceramic process that embraces smoke, flame, and spontaneity. Red-hot ceramic pieces are pulled from our outdoor kiln and placed into combustible materials, creating unique surface effects like crackles, metallic sheens, and smoky patterns. No prior experience necessary! We will cover a variety of Raku specific processes including reduction glazes, horse hair, and naked raku.

Day of the Event :

-Participants should bring a maximum of three 5”x 5” pre-made, bisque-fired objects (glazes are provided by ArtAttelier).

-If you would like to make your objects at ArtAttelier prior to the event please don’t hesitate to contact us 2 weeks in advance! We will provide 5 lbs. of Raku Clay and 2 hours of open studio time to create your work.

-You also have the option to choose from a variety of pre-made ceramic forms (both hand-built and wheel thrown) from ArtAttelier for $15 a piece.

-You can be as involved in the firing process as you would like – or you can prepare your ceramic objects and let us do the flame work for you while you sit back and enjoy the show!

-Food and beverages will be provided.

-Please wear closed-toed shoes and natural fiber clothing!

At the end of the evening, you will have learned the history and process of Japanese Raku in our red-hot outdoor kiln situated on the beautiful natural campus of ArtAttelier. You will leave with your own uniquely patterned iridescent, earthy, smokey, beautiful ceramic work and an unforgettable experience!
